The Broncos and the 2012 NFL Draft

Well the results of the 2012 NFL draft are in. And the Denver Broncos did alright. I say alright because while they filled some holes in the Broncos roster, they missed out on a few key players that both myself and other fans were screaming at them to go after. That being said, you never know how a young and just drafted player is going to work out. There are many cases where teams draft a top-30 pick and the player never really pans out to their potential. It turns out that some of these amazing players peak in college. And then there are the sleepers - the guys that barely make it into the NFL through the draft at all - and turn out to be great additions to any NFL roster. With that in mind, I can't quite understand why so many football sites give teams "grades" for their drafting skills. Seriously: you don't know what's going to happen with any of the players that are picked. Yes, there are some picks that seem to be no-brainers - but that doesn't mean that some of the underdogs are bad picks either. Plus, you're not part of the team's strategy during the draft. You're not in on the ground level. They might have a different plan than just thinking about the short term and filling the immediate holes in a roster - they might be thinking more long-term about how this player can help their team. So everything being said, I am a little disappointed that the Broncos missed out on some great players. But that doesn't mean that the players they DID draft won't be great additions to the team as well.

Brian Dawkins of the Denver Broncos Roster

If you're up on social media and sports teams, you might have already heard this. But earlier this morning, a potential hall-of-famer from our very own Broncos Roster announced his retirement from the NFL. Via twitter. Yep, fan favorite Brian Dawkins - safety for the Broncos - will no longer be playing with the Broncos or any other team in the NFL this season. Here's what he wrote:

"The Lord has blessed me to play in the NFL for 16 years. I would like to thank the Eagles & the Broncos 4 believing in me. I would like 2 thank all my teammates & Coaches that I have been blessed 2 go to battle with. Along with u, the fans 4 helping make my career 1 that I have enjoyed tremendously. In other words. I am announcing my retirement from the NFL. #BBTB."

 From this Bronco fan and others, best of wishes to Mr. Dawkins in this new stage of his life! There have certainly been a lot of change ups on the Broncos roster this year - and I'm sure this is just the start. With the NFL Draft quickly approaching, we're sure to see some more additions and removals from the team. I'm excited to see what happens!

Denver Broncos Cheerleaders Tryouts

The Broncos cheerleaders tryouts happened recently, and for the first time ever a guy actually tried out to make the squad. Personally, I'm not sure how he did, but here's a peek at last year's Denver Broncos cheerleading squad performing to "Burlesque" at a game in August. I'm not trying to be creepy, but they actually did a pretty fantastic job. Not something that you always come to expect from pro-NFL cheerleaders...sometimes it seems like the emphasis is more on looking skanky and performing stripper-esque moves than actually dancing well. Regardless, I'm starting to get excited to check out the Broncos schedule this year - who's with me??

2012 NFL Draft and the Denver Broncos

So now that all of this quarterback trouble has settled down, the Denver Broncos should be looking forward towards the NFL Draft at the end of this month. Now while there are many great prospects coming to the NFL Draft, the big question on everyone's mind is whether or not the Broncos should trade one of their first round draft picks - they have two - to open themselves up to what they REALLY need in the draft this year. Which means the question that SHOULD be on everyone's mind is what does the Broncos roster actually NEED? Well, they need to fill their defensive tackle and running back positions. The best defensive tackles that they should be looking at right now, according to Bleacher Report, are Kendall Reyes from Connecticut, Brandon Thompson from Clemson, Mike Martin from Michigan and Alameda Ta'amu from Washington. For the running back pick, their best options would be David Wilson from Virginia Tech, Doug Martin from Boise State and Lamar Miller from Miami. While it may be a risk for the Broncos to trade that extra first round draft pick, they might be actually opening themselves up to something better. They have a tendency to get caught up in the day and make draft picks that aren't right for what the roster is needing at all - something that GM Ted Sundquist is all too aware of. It'll be interesting to see what actually happens with these guys.

Denver Broncos Shopping Time: Broncos Potato Head

Ok - it's been a tumultuous couple of weeks for the Denver Broncos. First they have this big news about maybe getting a QB superstar, then they get the superstar, then they lose a fan favorite...well,  you can see why we might need a little break from all of the Broncos roster drama this week. So it's time for one of my favorite things: shopping for Denver Broncos gear! And this awesome Broncos Mr. Potato Head is just the ticket. I love the cleats, love the jersey and the helmet, and love that it has interchangeable accessories (like facial expressions and foam fingers). Love it - need it.

Hello Peyton Manning, Goodbye Tim Tebow

Well, I guess we should have expected this. That Tim Tebow wouldn't want to play second fiddle to Peyton Manning on the Denver Broncos roster. And while I'm sad for the Broncos, I have to say that I do wish Tebow the best of luck. He's decided to join the New England Patriots roster. Tebow might bring a little extra class to the state that's recently best known for not-so-classy things like Jersey Shore, Teresa Guidice and Danielle Staub. The alternative: He could end up dating someone like Snooki, J-Woww or Sammi. Ohhhh boy - now all I can picture is a super tanned, super gelled version of T-bow, and it's a little scary. Please don't go, Timmy!!

Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos...Part II

And apparently, Peyton Manning has picked to join the Denver Broncos roster! Now I realize that there are a lot of upset fans right now - because they love Tim Tebow and all that jazz, but you  have to remember, Manning is a seasoned veteran in the NFL. This is going to be the experience of a lifetime for Tebow. Yes, he may be playing second fiddle to Manning, but he's also going to learn a LOT. You can't deny that the Broncos didn't start of the season on the right foot last year. And that there was a lot of luck involved with their work that got them to the playoffs. Perhaps a year or two under a NFL Superbowl winner is just what Tebow needs to become a Superbowl ring wearer sooner than he thinks! And I, for one, am SUPER excited that the Broncos have a new man on the team.

Peyton Manning: Future Bronco?

Wowza - our very own Denver Broncos sure are heating up the newslines lately, aren't they? This week, it's all about Peyton Manning. And how he could be the next and newest addition to the Denver Broncos roster! How amazing would that be to have a MANNING on our roster. I mean, he's awesome. He's been to the Superbowl multiple times. And with a quarterback duo like Manning and Tebow, we would be absolutely unstoppable next year! Our only competition is the Cardinals - and our defensive line is WAY better than theirs, which is something that every QB is mucho interested in. So I'm thinking that if he signs, a newly embroidered Broncos Superbowl Champions jersey is in my future...yes? Ok, good. I'm glad we're on the same page!

The Bachelor: Tim Tebow

Oh yes, ladies and gents, you've heard correctly. The television show "The Bachelor" is attempting to recruit our very own quarterback from the Denver Broncos roster, Mr. Tim Tebow, as the next contestant on the show. While nothing's been confirmed, Chris Harrison (host of "The Bachelor") has said that "They always say yes, but then in never happens" (in response to whether or not Tebow actually will be the next contestant on "The Bachelor"). That being said, he is single and ready to mingle, or as ready to mingle as a devout 24 year old that is saving himself for marriage can be, we suppose. Could be an interesting season if these crazy ladies end up competing for a real, live NFL quarterback, doncha think? Stay tuned for more!

I Love New Broncos Gear

Ok. So the Broncos are back in development mode for next season, which means my Denver Broncos wardrobe is in full makeover mode for next season. Which is why I NEED this lovely little Junk Food Broncos t. I love the vintage look, the curved letters, the color, the fit. It's so perfect, I can't wait to get it. Next on the need-to-have list: some new Denver Broncos running socks!

The "Never Say Never Award"

Well guys, it is officially the off-season. The Superbowl is dunzo and now we're all left hanging in the balance until Training Camp starts up. But something pretty exciting DID happen this weekend: our very own Tim Tebow of the Denver Broncos roster was awarded the 2011 GMC Never Say Never award! Because of his resilience and can-do attitude, this team went from nothing to playoff bound - an amazing turnaround for the middle of the season. The entire Denver Broncos roster was a bit of a comeback kid this year - so good for them for getting recognized for it! Now we just need to hope that it carries into next season!

Denver Broncos + The Pro Bowl = Happy Denver Broncos Fan

Did you watch the Pro Bowl this weekend? I sure did. And I have to say - the Denver Broncos REPPED this team!

We had SIX players in the game. SIX! That's pretty incredible. Oh, and former Denver Bronco roster man Brandon Marshall took home the MVP award after racking up six receptions, 176 yards and FOUR touchdowns.

Our current players that made it to the big game put on a good show too - but having six Pro Bowlers on the Denver Broncos roster is an accomplishment. Kind of makes up for that whole not-progressing-in-the-playoffs-thing. Kind of.

Good to end the season on a postive note, right? Thought so. Good karma for next season :)

Reasons Why I Loved the Broncos in 2011 (And therefore can't wait til 2012)

Things that made me swoon for the Broncos this year. And leave me SUPER excited for next season, despite their disappointing playoff performance.

1. Tim Tebow is amazing. Calm underpressure and uber sexy, I can't wait to see him in action next year.
2. We actually surpassed our numbers this year. Based on mathematics, we should have won five or six games. instead, our mid-season turnaround left us with EIGHT wins and a (albeit short) playoff run. Keep it up boys, we can go further next year!
3. I got this sweet vintage v-neck that has got to  be my new favorite Broncos t. Show your love, people!
4. The surge in fan support towards the end of the season. I haven't seen that many people excited about the home team in, like, years.
5. Britton Colquitt, Robert Ayers, Daniel Fells...Since we were such an underdog team this year, I have to throw out some love to the underdogs on the Denver Broncos roster. These guys were ranked as the most underappreciated players on the team this year - so kudos to them for helping us come out as the team to beat this season!

So the Denver Broncos are out of the NFL Playoffs. Bummed? Yeah, I am too. BUT: from their amazing comeback from the start of the season, I can't really complain. Actually, the fact that they actually MADE it to the playoffs has me pretty pumped for August.
